ApexSQL November 2018 newsletter - All about using the SQL Server data recovery to recover damaged, deleted, dropped, or lost data   Click here to view this newsletter in your browser         ApexSQL November 2018 newsletter     Welcome to another ApexSQL newsletter! In this newsletter, we'll be focusing entirely on SQL Server data and structure recovery tool use cases. We will also offer a 20% discount to ApexSQL Recover. Losing data is no fun, so stay with us to learn how ApexSQL Recover can help you with restore and recovery, migration and restores, and data and structure extraction situations. Restores and recovery Data restoration and recovery are the primary functions of ApexSQL Recover, which is why we're starting our tour here. Disaster recovery In most cases, the recovery process starts by identifying the inadvertent changes - who made the change, where and when and how the changes impacted the original data and structure. The goal of this investigation is to be able to roll back the data/structure to the state before the disaster. ApexSQL Recover comes in handy here as it allows you to investigate the transaction log to understand all the important factors that led to the disaster. But more importantly, it gives you an easy way to use this information to create proper recovery (undo) script and execute it to complete the recovery process Backup-less recovery The best thing about ApexSQL Recover is probably the fact it might be able to perform a successful recovery even if you have no backups. ApexSQL Recover utilizes information from within the transaction log file and database file to allow recovery by creating an undo script to rollback any inadvertent changes SQL injection attacks Being a victim of a SQL injection attack can have a serious impact on your data. Luckily, ApexSQL Recover lets you identify and recover from SQL injection attacks quickly and easily. Use it to analyze the transactions and individual operations to determine the changed and damaged data - up to the row level, and then create rollback scripts to reverse negative impact from the malicious attack. See also Row-level recovery - Learn how to use ApexSQL Recover to rollback only the specific changes with pinpoint precision and ensure that the recovery process affects only specific table rows Deleted, dropped or truncated data/structure recovery - ApexSQL Recover allows you to recover from accidental delete, truncate or drop operations. You can create an undo script or recover directly to a new database DDL recovery and replay - Analyze transaction log files and create undo or redo scripts to roll changes back and forward. Point in time restores - Similar to row-level recovery, ApexSQL Recover can also help with restoring only the specific database tables back in time without affecting other tables which do not require a rollback BLOB data recovery - Learn how to recover lost BLOBs directly as data files, making it easy to get them back to the database or immediately check the files out of the database Migration and restores The major flaw of database migrations and usual point-in-time restores is that they might result in loss of certain data. Learn how to prevent this data loss during SQL Server database migrations with ApexSQL Recover Data and structure extraction Looking into a database backup using SQL Server own tools requires the backup to be restored as a database. This requires a lot of resources. ApexSQL Recover, on the other hand, lets you look into your database backups directly so you can extract table data for specific object only. This will save you tremendous amount of resources and time.
