ApexSQL April 2 2018 newsletter - New data masking tool announced, 2018 version of ApexSQL Propagate released and GDPR 'specials' offered Click here to view this newsletter in your browser ApexSQL April 2 2018 newsletter In this newsletter we'll highlight the 2018 release of ApexSQL Propagate, give you a sneak peek at our new tool, ApexSQL Mask, and give an overview of how we applied Visual Language Dictionary for Visual Studio for iconography, colors and other visual concepts in ApexSQL tools/add-ins. ApexSQL Mask - new tool ApexSQL Mask is a SQL developer tool which can overwrite data in a database or copy while anonymizing personal data. It has the ability to mask data using more than 150 random generators and do redaction or partial masking of databases. Constraints and Triggers can be enabled and disabled as needed, and there is an option to overwrite an existing database while backing up the original one or to create a new database without the overwrite. The tool has also the ability to scan for sensitive data based on 12 default or custom data sensitive filters. All the filters can be saved, edited or removed, and multiple filters can be applied simultaneously. ApexSQL Mask allows working with data at the column level: users can shuffle masked data in each column separately, choose the type of generator (random, predefined or other) for each column's data type or use Where clause to apply multiple generators on a specific column and mask just specific rows. The tool also allows for the custom-made masking of XML data type columns: users have the option to generate every character of the original data, or content ("visible" part xml) or xml elements (xml tags). ApexSQL Propagate - new version We've released a new version of ApexSQL Propagate, with the following enhancements and 28 bugs and known issues fixed: High DPI and 4K resolution support Applied concepts of Visual Language Dictionary for Visual Studio for iconography, imagery, colors, menus, fonts, formatting and other GUI elements Buttons for manipulating script and database lists are added in the Scripts and Databases tabs and panels Right-click commands for manipulating script and database lists are added in the Scripts and Databases tabs and panels The Edit button to edit the current project is added in the Home tab Remember, ApexSQL Propagate is completely free, for everyone. Now, we're taking a closer look at new colors and iconography that gave ApexSQL tools modern look, consistent with Visual Studio Shell. All icons are updated using colors and styling according to the Microsoft UX guidelines. We took many of the images from the Visual Studio Image Library and redesigned them creating our own custom icons that are more intuitive, simple and are easily recognized symbols. Like what you see?
