ApexSQL December 2017 newsletter II - New major releases for Defrag, Compare, Data Diff and CICD toolkit, 5 for 5 discount   Click here to view this newsletter in your browser         ApexSQL December 2017 newsletter II     We have some exciting news in this cycle with the release of several new products ApexSQL Defrag ApexSQL Defrag 2018, a DBA tool for index analysis, reporting and defragmentation, was released on Dec 21st, with the following enhancements: Index fragmentation and size prediction Missing index alerts Custom severities for policy alerts Resource check parameters for executing job count, active transaction count and transaction log usage percentage Email notification events for policy execution success, failed, warning, expired, cancelled. High DPI and 4K resolution support Usability improvements Improved quality with 16 bug fixes For more information about ApexSQL Defrag 2018, see the product page ApexSQL Compare ApexSQL Compare is a tool for file and folder comparison that is tightly coupled with SQL Server and can be implemented as an add-in in both SQL Server Management Studio and Visual Studio. Enhancements in the new 2018 version include: Integrated file editor Save as batch feature is added under the Save button from the Home tab High DPI and 4K resolution support CLI switches: Set the file size type for the files that will be ignored with the /ignore_bigger_than switch [/fst]: Byte KB MB GB TB Default [dft] – MB Set the author name for the comparison report [/auth] Set the legal information for the comparison report [/leg] For more information about ApexSQL Compare 2018, see the product screen shot tour and/or the product page ApexSQL Data Diff ApexSQL Data Diff 2018 has been released with a new look and feel, including new icons, High DPI and 4K resolution support. The new version also includes 19 bug fixes. For more information about ApexSQL Data Diff 2018, see the product screen shot tour and/or the product page ApexSQL CI/CD toolkit Although not versioned as a major/2018 release, the new version of the ApexSQL CI/CD toolkit PowerShell scripts has several, major new features including integration of the new “Review” step using ApexSQL Enforce and more: The pipeline job summary log file contains more detailed and descriptive information E-mail notifications contain more detailed and descriptive information about start/end time, executed steps and created output files Review step is added to check database objects and scripts by pre-configured rules Documentation step can now document database changes only NuGet package output Support for pushing/fetching NuGet packages to/from a NuGet feed Beep sound is added upon the pipeline completion/failure Step in-line new switches to include/exclude output files: [-NoScript] – exclude script output files for the Build, Populate, Schema sync, and Data sync steps [-NoReport] – exclude report output file for the Test, Review, Schema sync, and Data sync steps [-NoSummary] – exclude summary output files for the Schema sync and Data sync steps [-NoWarnings] – exclude warning output files for the Schema sync and Data sync steps Switch for creating output for SQL scripts files added to the populate step [/on] Pipeline return codes: 0 – Success – all steps in the pipeline were executed successfully 1 – Failure – one of the steps in the pipeline has failed or an error is encountered The ApexSQL CICD toolkit PowerShell scripts are free, open sourced and fully documented. ApexSQL CI/CD toolkit now features a new CI step called Review step. We fixed 12 bugs and known issues.
