ApexSQL December 2018 newsletter - Enterprise level SQL Server data masking for the masses Click here to view this newsletter in your browser ApexSQL January 2019 newsletter Although not officially released, this newsletter is going to offer an extensive sneak-peek at the soon-to-be released product and exciting addition to ApexSQL Developer, ApexSQL Mask. ApexSQL Mask is a tool for classifying and masking sensitive data via a user interface and/or unattended and automatically. The production release should be out next month. ApexSQL Mask includes over 100 data classification filters and over 200 pre-defined generators, so you can ensure that sensitive data is replaced with realistic data. It will automatically classify all of the columns in your database based on pre-defined and custom sensitive data filters. Once classified, columns can be masked with either redaction or substitution masks, at the columns or at the row level. Once all masks have been applied to the appropriate sensitive columns, the database can be masked in place or a masking script can be created ApexSQL Mask supports fully automation and will be part of the ApexSQL DevOps toolkit. As such, it will play an important role in creating SQL Server continuous delivery pipelines, masking data in provisioned databases, to test new builds prior to release into production.
